Castle Vale gets a road sweeping machine

Keeping the local area and public space clean and free of litter is an important part of maintaining the Castle Vale estate and ensuring it is an enjoyable place to live for all of its residents. As part of this drive, the Castle Vale Community Housing (CVCH) Estates Team has acquired a brand new Karcher road-sweeping machine that residents will see in action on roads, pathways and walkways from May.

The new Karcher Road Sweeping Machine mc50 is designed for use all year around on roads and streets and features a jet wash. The road sweeper will be operated by community caretakers across Castle Vale.

The road sweeper will clean whole streets, including pathways much more quickly in comparison to manual cleaning.  With only one person needed to operate the sweeping machine. This will free up members of the Estates Team so that they can focus on other priority tasks in the local area.

Irfan Mehboob, Estate Services Manager at The Pioneer Group, is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all 180 CVCH communal blocks and flats. His team’s responsibilities include ensuring these areas are clean, safe and secure as well as carrying out fire safety inspections and litter picking.

Irfan said:

While local residents are satisfied with the service we provide, we are always looking at how we can improve at keeping the estate looking presentable at all times. We’re so excited to have the road sweeping machine as a resource that will help make Castle Vale look better, help us to maintain the area and free up manpower for other necessary tasks on the estate.

We will keep all residents updated on how the new Karcher machine is making a difference on the estate as we progress.

The CVCH Estate Team also provides free bulky waste collection for all CVCH tenants, every quarter to reduce fly tipping. Additional activities run by the team include local littler picking with volunteers that meet once a week in hi-vis vests to pick up rubbish.
