Amy Mullins-Downes

Amy is a Service Manager, employed by Shelter and manages the Birmingham Changing Futures Lead Worker Peer Mentor Service as part of the Big Lottery’s Fulfilling Lives Programme. Previous to this role, she managed Shelter Birmingham’s specialist Housing Advice Service for five years and has been in the housing sector since 2001.

Amy is a strong advocate for incorporating peer support in services and developing systems that are built from the customer up, incorporating service user involvement and keeping it at the heart of any organisation. Her role requires that she works with a number of senior managers and commissioners in agencies including West Midlands Police, NHS England, Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust, Birmingham City Council and the Prison and Probation Services championing systems change for individuals experiencing multiple and complex needs.
